This Palmonas case study starts with a unique name this is the first thing that strikes our minds. Then comes the next thought are they the ones which we all saw on the Shark tank show? And then Shraddha Kapoor is the owner right? This is what fascinates us, and this is what they have cashed upon. But the real answer is they are the ones who encashed upon the right opportunity in the right time. Their eagle-eyed marketing for D2C Jewellery made us think like that but to our astonishment it is far more than this.
Let us deal further into the case study success of how in just a limited time a demi fine jewellery has marked its spot in the industry.
Palmonas Case Study: The Brand Story
Pallavi Mohadikar had already run a successful business in her first startup, Karagiri, which was connected to handloom. But it got acquired by another company in 2021. Later, she realised her own trouble with imitation jewellery – it was affordable, but she couldn’t wear it because of her allergies. She then enquired with her husband Amol Patwari, who is a doctor about the metals used in orthopedic surgery, as they never get damaged. That’s when the idea of demi-fine jewellery struck her. She searched throughout India for a market in demi-fine jewellery, but to her astonishment, she didn’t find any. She already knew about its popularity in the US and UK, so she decided to bring it to India.
That’s how PALMONAS was born in 2022 based in Pune – Pal from Pallavi, Mo from Amol, Na from their daughter Anaya. S may be added coincidentally for Shraddha Kapoor. The name also had an international feel, which would help them popularize the brand more. Pallavi brought Shraddha Kapoor into Palmonas in a very ‘filmy’ way. Shraddha had already bought some jewellery from Palmonas and ordered more. Pallavi noticed this on Instagram, seized the opportunity, and reached out to Shraddha to leverage her massive influencer reach.

Now, most of us who have seen Palmonas advertisements think it’s Shraddha Kapoor’s brand – and that’s exactly why sales just took a boost.
Palmonas advertising Campaigns
Palmonas”Anniversary Rescue”: A fast-paced, humorous digital ad highlighting the brand’s unique partnership with quick-commerce apps like Swiggy.
The narrative follows a partner who completely forgets an anniversary, only to be saved when a premium Palmonas gift box is delivered to their doorstep in under 10 minutes. This ad depicts how it eliminates the anxiety dealt due to forgetting anniversary to a moment filled with happiness.

Palmonas “The Smarter Choice“: A digital video advertisement featuring Bollywood actress and Palmonas Co-founder Shraddha Kapoor alongside a popular financial influencer. The ad playfully contrasts a traditional consumer who locks expensive gold jewelry away in a bank locker out of fear, against a modern professional seamlessly wearing 925 sterling silver to work every day.
This ad focuses on the real life problem, most women encounter as their gold are always locked in lockers because of the expensiveness of fine metals and seldom can they use it. This completely eliminates by showing how women can embrace the happiness of wearing jewellery everyday without any risk involved.

Palmonas “Modern Mangalsutra”: Bollywood actresses Shraddha Kapoor and Amrita Rao in a culture-appropriate digital viral campaign. The ad cleverly taps into pop-culture nostalgia, the ad is a nod to Amrita Rao’s iconic “Jal lijiye” meme from the film Vivah and playfully calls out Shraddha Kapoor as an unmarried co-founder selling mangalsutras. The campaign has successfully transformed the traditional mangalsutra from heavy, occasion-only jewelry to a lightweight, stylish and everyday accessory for modern young women. Palmonas used humor and viral pop culture tropes to create massive organic social engagement, while driving adoption in a traditionally conservative product category. Further in this Palmonas case study you will see about Palmonas marketing strategy in depth.
PALMONAS MARKETING STRATEGY
What I find interesting about Palmonas is how they didn’t try to compete with traditional fine jewellery brands like Tanishq or Malabar Gold. Instead, they created their own space by making it affordable, stylish, and skin-friendly demi fine jewellery for young women. Here’s how they did it:
1.Influencer & Celebrity Marketing – One of Palmonas’s biggest marketing brilliance was its association with Shraddha Kapoor. She was initially a customer of the brand and later became an investor then cofounder and brand ambassador. This made people trust more on the credibility of the brand and further the sales increased.

Apart from celebrity endorsements , the brand collaborates with fashion influencers and content creators on Instagram and YouTube, resulting in real content created by real consumers and this holds the interest of the public. You can check out their official content on the Palmonas Instagram Page and get the idea of what I was talking about their marketing.
2.Choosing Digital marketing first rather than physical ones- Palmonas did not start as most traditional jewellery does, such as implementing physical stores but it gave most importance to digital marketing. By making it well visible in facebook, instagram, whatsapp, etc But this made up for a good amount of business without much cost constraints. They spend about 40% of the funds for marketing which has turned out to be profitable. To master these online growth strategies the best thing is to learn digital marketing.
3.Creating trust among consumers – Palmonas was seen as a solution to the problems that consumers were facing when they used imitation jewellery as it was seen as affordable. But imitation jewellery had metals such as brass and nickel which were allergic to many people. The imitation jewellery did not last longer if you are using it as a daily wear plus it was clearly visible it was imitation jewellery.
These all were eliminated by palmonas as it used silver and steel material with a coating of 18k gold(up to 2.5 microns),which literally made it affordable and also it gave a real gold jewellery effect. Because their designs are completely waterproof, hypoallergenic, and treated with an anti-tarnish coating, you can wear them every single day with absolute confidence.
4. Impact of Shark Tank India-Palmonas made headlines across the country after it featured on Shark Tank India Season 4. The founders presented the growing demi-fine jewellery market, their business model and impressive growth of the brand. The pitch was challenged on their warranty policy but the founders were able to clarify their position and still got the deal showing they could handle tough questions. They cracked the deal by securing an amount of ₹ 1.26 crore for 1% equity in joint investment from two of the sharks. This television appearance significantly made millions of people know about Palmonas.

MARKETING LESSONS FROM PALMONAS
1. Finding the empty space in demi-fine category of Jewellery
Palmonas highlighted that demi-fine jewellery was a popular segment in international markets but was missing in India. The company filled the space and created a unique representation in the industry.
2.Build a strong identity in limited time
The company specialises in modern, elegant and affordable jewellery that appeals to young professionals and fashion-conscious consumers. Their consistency on digital platforms has led people to recognise their brand. Basically it was focused for the age group of 18-35 and it has a strong foothold in that category.
3.Used Celebrity in an effective manner
Shraddha Kapoor is not only used as a face in the brands advertisement but her status as an investor and co-founder lends the brand credibility and helps build trust with customers.Even people who are her fans would blindly follow her and grab a palmonas piece. Some of shraddha kapoor’s favourite jewelleries you can checkout by clicking the url:https://palmonas.com/pages/shraddhas-favourite
4.Comfortably used power of social media
Through Instagram Reels, influencer partnerships, customer testimonials, and content created by users, Palmonas has been able to create a loyal online community and keep customers interest high.Continuous whatsapp messaging for festival offers or buy 1 get 2 offers they utilised it perfectly, diversified their range by even making their products available in e-commerce website like amazon, myntra, ajio, nykaa and quick commerce apps like swiggy. The constant advertisement regarding their brand is unmissable even for those who never purchased from them. View them on myntra: https://www.myntra.com/palmonas-jewellery
5.Focussing on consumers
Palmonas is committed to premium packaging, easy online shopping, attentive customer service and quality control. When customers have a good experience they spread about the goodness of the brand through word of mouth.
6. Utilising Variety of channels of marketing
Palmonas shows how digital marketing and physical showrooms can work together to grow a brand. While the brand gained popularity via online channels, the opening of 75 offline stores has provided the opportunity for customers to experience the products in person, resulting in increased trust, engagement and sales.
7. Introduced variety to attract more customers
They already have a section for necklace and chains, earrings, bracelets and bangles, rings, anklets and feet jewellery with also stylist mangalsutras attracting young married females. They later also brought up men’s collection, 9kt fine gold luxe(gold adorned with lab grown diamonds). Every Friday 150-200 designs are launched so that the collection feels fresh and many people get attracted to it.

Moving on from the marketing strategies , let us dive into the problems encountered and found by me in this palmonas case study.
PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED
However, with its rapid growth Palmonas carries its challenges too:
- There have been issues regarding their return policy as they give only 2 day narrow window for returns, then the amount is not refunded it is given to store credit which causes inconvenience to customers as if customers are forced to buy some other product. This causes some hindrance in customer relation building. They could eliminate this by bringing in an extension in number of days of return.
- Rising competition from existing jewelry brands and new D2C startups such as Giva but the plus point of palmonas is it did use anti allergy as its USP.
- Growth in production while maintaining premium quality, some jewellery are great but some are a disappointment so they need to have a constant stand on quality of product as sales increases. For eliminating this they should prioritise on quality checks regularly.
- Customer grievances should be given priority.Only giving attention in at the time of buying is not enough ,they should be considerate on the customer’s problems after buying too.
Conclusion
Palmonas, is a perfect example of how a business started from scratch goes on to become a ₹ 1950crore company backed by cumulative investments of₹ 435.26 crore. It’s the best product to learn how the opportunities should be taken into account, and just go with using the best marketing strategies in order to flourish in the business field. Till now business is going as expected but for the longer run will it work?
That is something to be found out, they need to correct the flaws to become a long lasting company in the future. Doing a Palmonas case study taught me the intricates of marketing. Palmonas’s journey shows that great marketing can build a brand fast. But trust and quality keep it growing. The question is: can they fix their flaws before competitors catch up?
